Refined
Nostalgia
The Drifter is powered by a 1470cc liquid-cooled
V-twin engine. New pistons increase compression for more
power, and the cam timing comes straight from the
muscle-bound Vulcan 1500 for added power output. Improved
overhead cams actuate four valves per cylinder, and each
valve has a hydraulic lash adjuster to eliminate valve
train maintenance.

With a big V-twin engine displacing 90 cubic inches,
the Vulcan 1500 Classic powerplant commands attention for
its looks, technical features and power characteristics.
Each cylinder has elegantly sculpted and polished cooling
fins that contrast with the black cast-look engine to
catch the eye. The fins are a functional air cooling
system; in addition to a larger radiator, they help keep
the engine operating at an optimum temperature.

Style
in Simplicity
The centerpiece of the Vulcan 800 is its powerful
805cc V-twin engine. From a distance it appears as a
basic, air-cooled engine, but closer inspection reveals
that the polished cylinder fins combine with liquid
cooling to provide exceptional temperature control and
engine durability. Adding to the engine's traditional
appearance is the integrated radiator that's hidden
between the downtubes of the double-cradle frame.
