Theres no standing still in the quest for 250cc
motocross supremacy, even when you are the best. So,
although the 1998 Kawasaki KX250 swept all of the major
magazine shootouts and quickly sold out on the showroom
floors, the 1999 KX250 has further refinements to keep
Kawasaki on top.
The restyled and revised 1999 KX250 has even more
power than before. Engine performance is further improved
with the addition of a new carburetor featuring the
Kawasaki Throttle Responsive Ignition Control (K-TRIC)
throttle position sensor.

Kawasakis KDX200 two-stroke off-road motorcycle
has been highly praised by riders everywhere for its
combination of power, light weight and nimble handling.
The 1999 KDX220R takes the legendary design a step
further to offer all of the performance of a
larger-displacement machine without the weight.

The KDX220Rs liquid-cooled engine gains 18cc
over the KDX200 due to its 3mm larger bore. The larger
displacement allows the 220R to build power quicker and
pull stronger throughout the powerband. To maintain the
smooth power delivery that the KDX line has always been
famous for, the Keihin 33mm carburetor on the 220R is 2mm
smaller than that of its sibling. High-speed compression
was also slightly reduced while porting changes help give
the 220R highly tractable power characteristics.

The legendary KDX200 is one of the motorcycles that
helped build Kawasakis off-road reputation.
Designed to deliver maximum performance for playing on
the trail or serious off-road competition, the KDX200 has
won the praise of off-road riders everywhere for its
combination of power, light weight and nimble handling.
The KDX200 has always been famous for its smooth power
delivery from the 198cc liquid-cooled two-stroke engine.
Power is spread over a wide rpm range due to the Kawasaki
Integrated Power Valve System (KIPS) guillotine exhaust
valve. The KIPS alters exhaust port timing to produce
plenty of low-end torque without sacrificing top-end
power. A six-speed transmission gives the rider a gear
for just about every situation.

Kawasaki attacks the highly-competitive 125cc
motocross class with a highly-revised KX125 for 1999 that
is intended to continue the winning ways established by
AMA 125cc Eastern Regional Supercross and 1997-1998 AMA
125cc National Motocross Champion Ricky Carmichael. An
all-new chassis makes it more compact, while new porting
and a new carburetor with the Kawasaki Throttle
Responsive Ignition Control (K-TRIC) electronic throttle
position sensor boost power output.
Within the liquid-cooled two-stroke engine the intake
and exhaust ports were reshaped and the port timing was
changed for higher output. The Kawasaki Integrated
Powervalve System (KIPS), which automatically varies
exhaust port timing according to engine speed for a
broader powerband, seals better to the piston and
cylinder to increase power across the rev range.

The Kawasaki KX80 is a full-fledged motocross machine
that reflects Kawasakis commitment to winning in
80cc competition. The KX80 utilizes much of the same
technology used in the full-sized KX models and has
provided the first step to stardom for many of
todays top professional riders. Plus, it won Dirt
Bike magazines Mini-cycle Shootout due to its
superior power and handling characteristics.
The KX80 is powered by a liquid-cooled, 82cc
two-stroke engine featuring the Kawasaki Integrated Power
Valve System (KIPS). This system controls exhaust port
timing according to engine rpm to produce a broad
powerband. At low speeds exhaust timing is retarded to
help low-end and mid-range torque but, as rpms increase,
the timing advances to obtain excellent top-end power.
The wide powerband helps make the KX80 much easier to
control for riders of varying skill levels

Many young aspiring motocross champions get their
start on the Kawasaki KX60; like 125cc National and 125cc
Eastern Regional Supercross Champion Ricky Carmichael.
More sophisticated than most of the 50cc minicycles, the
KX60 is built with many of the features and all of the
reliability of the larger KX models.
The liquid-cooled 60cc two-stroke engine has a new
connecting rod and big-end bearing, and the big-end
sidewashers are now silver plated for durability. A
six-speed transmission with manual clutch drives the
12-inch rear wheel.
