explore new heights of on- and off-highway riding and
exploration. The KE100 is one of the most enduring and

adventuring.
If you are looking for a lightweight four-stroke 250,
then you'll be delighted with the KLR250. It's got the
goods for on and off highway excursions, like plush long
travel suspension and high ground clearance.
Or the KLR650. It takes you wherever, whenever in
smooth, torquey comfort. And with its huge 6.1 gallon
fuel tank, the journey continues long after the others
stop. So make your own world perfect. On one of

Kawasaki adds a third dimension to dual purpose
motorcycling with the 1999 KLR650. While dual purpose
motorcycles are designed for both street and off-road
riding, the KLR650 adds long-distance touring to its
repertoire. With a large-displacement engine that
comfortably cruises at highway speeds, a specially-padded
wide seat for extended saddle time, a large 6.1-gallon
fuel tank, a mini fairing and handguards to help block
the rider from the wind, the KLR650 is perfectly suited
for adventure touring.
The mighty KLR650 is powered by a strong, dual
overhead cam, four-valve 651cc liquid-cooled engine that
is tuned for exceptional low and mid-range power.

The 1999 Kawasaki KLR250 dual-purpose motorcycle cuts
a unique path in motorcycling. With its relative light
weight and high maneuverability, it is an excellent mount
for riding through congested city streets, but its long
travel suspension and predictable power make it perfect
for exploring those paths less traveled.
Powering this do-it-all motorcycle is a four-stroke
single-cylinder engine. Dual overhead cams operate four
valves in a compact combustion chamber to allow
performance-enhancing compression ratios without
detonation on today's pump gasolines. Double engine
counterbalancers keep the powerplant running smoothly
from idle to redline and an automatic cam chain tensioner
keeps engine timing spot-on without maintenance.

Dual Purpose Made Simple
The 1999 KE100 fills an important niche as an
entry-level dual-purpose machine. It has the required
equipment for street riding such as lighting, turn
signals and rear-view mirrors. And when the pavement
ends, the universal tires give it the ability to take the
operator down dirt roads and back trails that lead to
favorite camping spots or other remote locations.
At 187 pounds, the KE100's light weight and seat
height of less than 32 inches make it simple to ride and
helps give new riders confidence. The light weight also
makes it easy to load onto the bumper of a motorhome for
quick and easy transportation to a campground or other
destination.
The 99cc air-cooled two-stroke engine is dependable
and easy to maintain.
